Testing by pathology of Xylella fastidiosa host plants

Our laboratory tests plants that are potential hosts for Xylella fastidiosa and screens for this bacteria within the framework of regulations.

Description :

Xylella fastidiosa is a xylem bacteria, mainly transmitted by insect vectors, that can infect more than 500 species of plant. It is a regulated disease present in France since 2015.

Symptoms :
  • Leaf burns
  • Generalised shrivelling of the plant
  • Foliar chlorosis
  • Lack of lignification (hardening)
  • Leaves turning yellow or red
Testing must be carried out in the event of any suspicion of disease. However, the disease can often be asymptomatic.
